With TECHCODE RFID self-service library stations, books and other resources can be stored and collected in a safe manner outside the opening hours.  The cabinets can be situated inside or outside the buildings. Ordered books can be collected and returned by the readers at any convenient time throughout the day and year, also during off work days or when the library is closed e.g. due to lock-down.

Self-service library stations are user-friendly and can be operated by the reader in a number of ways:

  • using a reader for codes or library cards

  • using a touch screen on the cabinet

  • using a free mobile application.

Depending on the configuration, a System applied in the TECHCODE RFID cabinets can:

- award a User with access to a chosen compartment:

  • using a one-off PIN code

  • using login data assigned to a User,

  • using a RFID library card issued by a library to a User,

  • using a one-off bar code or QR code

- send SMS or an e-mail to a User to inform about the ordered book deposited in the compartment

- keep an automatic register of events such as logging, collections and returns, as well as generate relevant report on the events that occurred in relation to a given compartment/book

- automatically read and register circulation of books provided with special RFID labels [1]

- integrate with other systems used by a library or a reading room.

TECHCODE RFID book drops They can be integrated with TECHCODE RFID self-service library stations or can operate separately.

Book drops provide safe storage of books deposited in the drops. Integrated RFID reader authorises access to a cabinet in order to open the drop. Authorisation of an exemplary User [MZ1] is performed on the basis of his/her RFID library card.

Depending of the solutions applied in the cabinet, the System can automatically register and store different events like access authorisation/refusal to authorise access, return of particular resource to a book drop, etc. [2]

When a book is collected from a compartment or deposited in it, TECHCODE RFID cabinet automatically registers an action performed in relation to the tagged item and stores it in the System (who collected/returned which item from/to a given compartment and when it happened).
